The Warrior (Dante Walker #3)
Author: Victoria Scott
Genre: YA Fantasy/Paranormal
Release Date: May 6, 2014
Publisher: Entangled Teen
Pages: 352

Description:

War between heaven and hell is coming, but Dante Walker makes it look damn good.

Dante’s girlfriend, Charlie, is fated to save the world. And Aspen, the girl who feels like a sister, is an ordained soldier. In order to help both fulfill their destiny and win the war, Dante must complete liberator training at the Hive, rescue Aspen from hell, and uncover a message hidden on an ancient scroll.

Dante is built for battle, but even he can’t handle the nightmares where spiders crawl from Aspen’s eyes, or the look on Charlie’s face that foretells of devastation. To make matters worse, the enemy seizes every opportunity to break inside the Hive and cripple the liberators. But the day of reckoning is fast approaching, and to stand victorious, Dante will have to embrace something inside himself he never has before—faith.

The Warrior is the final book in the young adult fantasy/paranormal Dante Walker trilogy. It follows our favorite bad boy, Dante, as he along with Charlie, Blue, Annabelle, the liberators, and the rest of the crew gear up for the final battle against evil. After the discovery that Charlie is the savior, everyone has been on edge and training for the battle that will either destroy Earth or usher in Trelvator - a period of a hundred years of peace. Aside from the impending war, Dante and his friends have other problems on their minds. Aspen's still in Hell, there's a traitor among the liberators, and the only way to save the world and keep Charlie safe may be the one thing Dante never had before - faith.

I have absolutely adored this trilogy from the very beginning, so this book was incredibly bittersweet for me. I wanted so badly to find out how it all would end - what would happen with Dante, Charlie, and the rest of the characters, as well as how the war - and the trilogy - would finish. In spite of learning all of this and having a phenomenal ending to one of my all time favorite series, we now have to say goodbye to Dante, Charlie and the crazy things they had to face. Like the other books, this one was impossible for me to put down. I was immediately sucked back into the world the author created and I ended up reading the entire thing in one sitting. The characters continued to be awesome - I loved how each of them, even secondary characters, had unique personalities and quirks along with flaws that made them easy to identify with. I felt like I knew all these characters and was friends with them, so all the events in the book were like a roller coaster ride of emotion - from warm fuzzy feelings to ones of disbelief and fear. The plot was spectacular, as expected, and wrapped up the trilogy nicely without leaving any lingering questions or things unexplained.

As I mentioned, there's so much that happens in this book that I felt like I was spinning. One minute I was smiling and laughing at the dialogue between the characters - and Dante's thoughts, of course - and the next my jaw would be on the floor with me reading as fast as I could to see what was going to happen next. The writing was magnificent - done in a conversational tone with Dante as the narrator, it felt natural and effortless with everything smoothly transitioning into the next. I loved learning more about the liberators and collectors, along with Trelvator and the war between good and evil. I'm glad that the author put in some new information - like decoding the scrolls - into the story. I think it gave the book an intriguing layer of history and fantasy. I could go on and on about this book - this series - for hours and not do it justice. What I will say is this: If you haven't read these books yet - stop what you're doing and READ IT NOW. You definitely won't regret it - it is by far one of the best paranormal/fantasy series out there and I couldn't recommend it any higher. There's something for everyone - romance, action, fantasy, paranormal, adventure - so it really breaks any genre labels and appeals to fans of all types of fiction. My final words about the book and the series are these: READ THEM. NOW. This series is ridiculously amazing! But remember - Dante's all mine!
