Author: Cecy Robson
Genre: Urban Fantasy/Paranormal
Release Date: March 10, 2015
Publisher: Loveswept

Description:

Fans of Keri Arthur will love the Weird Girls, four sisters cursed with supernatural powers. In Cecy Robson’s latest urban fantasy romance, the search is on for an unholy grail, while evil is licking its wounds—and looking for revenge.

The preternatural world is changing. After a massive magical throwdown tore apart the established order, the dark elements are rebuilding their ranks unopposed. Celia Wird’s world is changing, too. She’s the mate of the pureblood were Aric, and his Warriors are honor-bound to protect her family as she and her sisters recover from unimaginable horrors.

Celia hesitates to reveal the true extent of the Wird sisters’ trauma, but they aren’t the only ones keeping secrets: Aric and the werewolf Elders are tracking a stone that grants limitless power. So is a tough coven of witches. Then Misha, a master vampire with his own plans for the stone, sends Celia after it. Can she and the vamps beat both the weres and the witches to the treasure before it falls into the wrong hands?

Fearing for Celia’s safety, Aric begs her to stay out of the hunt. What they don’t realize is that they’re the ones being hunted. But Celia’s ready to prove that she’s not easy prey.

My Deepest, Darkest, Fantasies
(Okay, not really.)

When I was very young, I used to fantasize about flying. Like, a lot. I even had graphic dreams where I’d actually feel my feet leave the ground and sense the breeze sweep along my cheek. Most people would think my obsession with flying stemmed from a desire to become a pilot―maybe even an astronaut. Considering I’d get motion sickness on the Merry Go Round, those people pegged me all wrong.

My other fantasies consisted of leaving my reality far behind. Too much violence existed in the environment where I was raised. Those places where fairies fluttered and I could fall asleep on a thick bed of moss as I watched them whirl around, now, that was a place I needed to be. It was a mystical land where I could have an adventure, skip through fields of flowers, eat candy, and yes, fly.

To say I often escaped into the worlds I created inside my head was an understatement. If I could have, I probably would have taken up permanent residence in those magical places that always made me smile. And while I frequently envisioned these worlds and their inhabitants at length, I never thought to write about them. Not for a long time.

Everything changed on May 1, 2009. After reading well over thirty urban fantasy and paranormal novels, I decided to give this writing thing a try. Don’t get me wrong, I never intended to make this a career. I simply wanted to see if I could write a book. Sounds easy, right?

Yeah. Not so much. I didn’t know how to develop characters and how to “show” instead of “tell”. I didn’t understand how to “hook” a reader, and grammar was more a foreign language than rules I understood enough to follow. Passive voice? Yeah, I had to Google that term to determine what that stuff was all about. But despite all the things I didn’t know, like how to create a plot, the one thing that came naturally was my writing voice, my ability to tell a story, and my aptitude for (you guessed it) creating a whole new world.

My first novel, Weird Girls, which later became Sealed with a Curse, developed from a dream in which four unique women were given the task of defeating evil. At first, they were more commando-types than supernatural. But their boyfriends were werewolves. I specifically remember the werewolves and I remember one strumming a guitar. Well, if there were werewolves in my world, it was a special place. So my girls had to be special, too.

I decided to make them sisters, and different from any race of human or supernatural on earth. Celia, as the oldest, would become their leader. I gave her the power to change into a golden tigress along with the abilities to transport herself underground. Taran, my tough and trash-talking sister would wield fire and lightning and receive glimpses of the future. Shayna, my perky little cheerleader of the group, can manipulate metal and wield weaponry. But I couldn’t stop there. My girls were very human, and very mortal. I needed Emme, the youngest sister to possess the power to heal. But Emme needed more than that, after all, unlike the fun fairy realms I created as a child, my “weird” urban fantasy world was a dangerous place. Emme needed to be a powerful telekinetic in order to defend herself against the big scaries my over-active imagination sent snarling their way.

A Curse Unbroken is the fifth novel in my Weird Girls series, and marks the end of Celia’s journey for now. Taran, whose attitude and inappropriateness have made her infamous, will now step into spotlight. Her first novella, tent. titled Of Flame and Promise, is scheduled for a September release. It will be followed by three full length novels: Of Flame and Light, Of Flame and Fury, and Of Flame and Fate.

I’m hoping each of the sisters will have their own series, but I won’t stop there. I’ve written proposals for other novels including Death Seeker, an urban fantasy series about the Scottish and Irish Fae, and Old Erth, a high fantasy that takes place in Fae.

So, peeps, what it boils down to is: I’ll probably never fly. But that doesn’t mean my characters won’t.

Thanks for having me!
