My Top 10 Favorite Fiction Books

First of all, I’m really grateful to be on A Dream Within A Dream today. As a book lover, it’s hard for me to pick only ten favorite books. There are so many to love. Some I’ve loved for my whole life. Others, I’ve just recently discovered. I know I’ve missed a few (hundred).

1. Good Omens – Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman
It’s hard for me to express how much I love this book without gushing. Angels. Demons. The Apocalypse. Decades before the TV show Supernatural made it cool. The BBC Radio play of it was also pretty cool.

2. The Red Tent – Anita Diamant
This story showed me the beauty of relationships between women.

3. Anne of the Island – Lucy Maud Montgomery
I loved the entire Anne of Green Gables trilogy (What kind of Canadian would I be if I didn’t?). But, this one was my favorite.

4. Hamlet – William Shakespeare
This one deserves mentioning because I think I’ve read it a dozen times, then watched every rendition of it available to me. If it were possible to specialize in one play in university, this would have been mine.

5. Anansi Boys – Neil Gaiman
I have read this book a few times and listened to it recorded as well. Lenny Henry breathes such life into the recorded version that it’s worth listening to again and again!

6. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix – J.K. Rowling
It was hard to choose a favorite in the Harry Potter series, but this one was pretty fabulous!

7. The English Patient – Michael Ondaatje
This blew me away by how heartbreakingly beautiful it was, right from the first sentence.

8. The Alchemist – Paulo Coelho
This story moved me with its elegance. Its style was simple, yet profound.

9. Valiant – Holly Black
I enjoyed the entire Modern Faerie Tales series, but this was my favorite.

10. The Clockwork Prince – Cassandra Clare
This was my favorite book in all of Cassandra Clare’s world of Shadowhunters. The combination of steampunk, romance and urban fantasy, as well as tie-ins to characters in the Mortal Instruments series made this a great read.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your top ten favorite books with us today Lisa!

OTHER BOOKS IN THE SERIES:

Millennia ago, he fell from heaven for her.

Can he face her without falling again?

Fascinated with ancient civilizations, seventeen-year-old Mia Crawford dreams of becoming an archaeologist. She also dreams of wings—soft and silent like snow—and somebody trying to steal them.

When a horrible creature appears out of thin air and attacks her, she knows Michael Fontaine is involved, though he claims to know nothing about it. Secretive and aloof, Michael evokes feelings in Mia that she doesn’t understand. Images of another time and place haunt her. She recognizes them—but not from any textbook.

In search of the truth, Mia discovers a past life of forbidden love, jealousy and revenge that tore an angel from Heaven and sent her to an early grave. Now that her soul has returned, does she have a chance at loving that angel again? Or will an age-old nemesis destroy them both?

Ancient history is only the beginning.

Now that she’s found him again, all Mia Crawford wants is some downtime with her fallen angel boyfriend, Michael. But the call of duty keeps him away—from school and from her—with more demons to smite than ever.

When Michael is mortally wounded by a cursed sword, Mia must perform an ancient blood ritual to save him. But the spell exacts a price. Haunted by visions of war, torture, and despair, Mia discovers the world is in more danger than she ever imagined. Behind the scenes, an evil adversary pulls all the strings.

After redemption, there’s Hell to pay.

A Canadian-born author, Lisa Voisin spent her childhood daydreaming and making up stories, but it was her love of reading and writing in her teens that drew her to Young Adult fiction.

A self-proclaimed coffee lover, she can usually be found writing in a local café. When she's not writing, you'll find her meditating or hiking in the mountains to counteract the side effects of drinking too much caffeine!

Though she’s lived in several cities across Canada, she currently lives in Vancouver, B.C. with her fiancĂ© and their two cats.
