“Like what you see?”
“Love what I see.” She fisted her hands to stop herself from
patting her heated cheeks, and forced herself to meet his eyes.
Frey smiled smugly. Maybe having him strut around naked
hadn’t been a very good idea. He seemed to be reveling in it a little too much.
She grabbed the sheet to tie around his hips at the same time he circled his
hands on her waist and lifted her onto his lap. He leaned forward to the
breakfast tray, and poured tea in her purple mug and coffee in his.
“Already tired of worshipping my body?”
She looked away from his too-observing eyes. “I-I wasn’t
worshiping.” She totally had been.
“Just tallying up your attributes.” Along
with the wall of abs. Had he always had them?
“Your tongue was hanging out. Oh Jesus, look at these
sheets. Is that…drool?” He made a face.
She swatted his arm, then leaned into his hard stomach and
sighed. “I don’t want to leave this bed,” Liese said.
“Who said anything about leaving? I haven’t had enough of
you yet, Li.”
“My appointment with Frau Khan is at ten-thirty.” Her
therapist had the most grandmotherly face she’d ever seen on anyone, and was
very patient, with a voice so soft yet firm. Enough to make one spill one’s
secrets without a second thought.
Frey seemed to perk up. “Well, in that case, you are allowed
to leave the bed.” He grinned, handing her a roll buttered and slathered with
jam, just the way she liked it. He traced a finger across her hairline and down
the side of her face and all she wanted was to melt on his lap. “How are the
headaches?”
“Better.” A few weeks back, after she’d begun her therapy
sessions, her doctor had begun to slowly taper her off the antidepressants. The
change had hit her hard at first, considering she’d relied heavily on the
medication the last two years. Her body was finally accommodating the dosages,
and having Frey in her life made things somehow…bearable.
