BOOK BLURB:

Brooks Benson is bored, stuck and miserable. When both his parents were unable to continue running the variety store, he dropped out of college and came back home to help. It’s been almost two years and he’s tired of making pizzas and selling scratch tickets to the locals of Hope Harbor, Maine. But as the second oldest Benson brother, he’s the one that stepped up. Now all he can see is a gray future in front of him.

Remington “Remi” Tate is disappointed, frustrated and out of options. After dropping out of college and trying to make a go of it in New York, she’s forced to come back home to live with her parents in Hope Harbor. Totally humiliating. Things are looking pretty grim until she starts baking again and runs into Brooks when she visits Benson Variety to ask if they’ll sell her whoopie pies, cakes, and cookies.

What was once a high school crush is now something much more mature that hits both of them like a ton of bricks. Brooks is game, as long as they keep things physical. which is just fine with Remi. She’s not planning on sticking around Hope Harbor forever and Brooks is definitely a lifer. They’re just two different to ever build something that could last.

Life rarely goes according to plan and what starts as just sex soon turns into something that splashes color into their once-drab lives. For the first time, they find peace and security in one another. But will it last? Or will everything crumble into pieces, leaving them with nothing?

SERIES ANNOUNCEMENT FROM CHELSEA M. CAMERON!

BensonLogo
One family. Seven people. A whole lot of love and a whole lot of drama.

Everyone in Hope Harbor Maine knows the Benson family: six sons, one daughter. They live by one rule: Family comes first.

The Benson Brothers series will be seven books, all standalones that can be read individually, or in order.

Author’s Note:

I’ve been DYING to write a series all in one family. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is my favorite musical of all time and I thought, wouldn’t it be cool to write seven stories all from the same family? As an only child, one of my favorite things to explore is sibling relationships. I also saw a gap in stories about working-class people in the New Adult category, which was another reason I wanted to write this. It’s also an ode to Coastal Maine, where I grew up and still live. I wanted to write books that were steeped in salt water and sweat. Books about people who work hard and love hard. I’m so excited about this series and I hope you will be too.

Together We Heal Blog Tour: Review + Giveaway

Welcome to my stop on the blog tour for Together We Heal! I have my review of the book to share with you today - and don't forget to enter the giveaway!

Together We Heal (Fall and Rise #4)
Author: Chelsea M. Cameron
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance
Release Date: August 18, 2015

Description:

Trish Grant is not a romantic. Okay, so she may read her share of romance novels, but that doesn’t mean she thinks that some fellow with a six pack is going to ride up on a horse and sweep her (literally) off her feet. Romance like that just isn’t for her. It belongs on the page.

Max Jackson noticed Trish at his cousin’s funeral, of all places. She was hard to miss with her citrus-colored hair, violet contacts and fiery attitude.

Trish was just as captivated by Max. He makes her laugh, which is rare, and it doesn’t hurt that he rocks blue hair and the most killer smirk that drives her crazy. Max is there for her during a rough time and even if she wanted to, she can’t shake him.

There are things about Trish that Max doesn’t know, and she’s not going to tell him. She hasn’t told anyone and doesn’t plan on it, thank you very much. But when Trish’s life is ripped apart by a dark piece of her past, will she let Max in? Or will she give up her potential fairytale to protect her already-scarred heart from further damage?

Together We Heal is a New Adult contemporary romance that focuses on our two main characters - Max and Trish - and their blossoming relationship. The author wrote the book in alternating first person point of views - those of both Trish and Max. I'm a firm believer that first person POV allows the reader to have a much deeper connection with the narrator, and it worked perfectly for this book. Trish is a great female lead. She's incredibly realistic - we learn about her past and the horrible events that have happened to her throughout her life. She's built up a huge wall to protect herself from getting close to anyone and from ever getting hurt. It all changes when she meets Max though, and Trish finds herself feeling emotions she never thought she could as well as having to face what happened to her in the past if she ever wants to heal and be able to move on. She's strong and fierce - especially on the outside - but once you get to know the real her, she's a sensitive person who deeply loves those she's let into her life. I hated learning about Trish's past, but I loved watching her realize that she needed to change if she ever wanted to move on with her life - especially in her relationship with Max. She's very stubborn and so afraid of almost everything having to do with any kind of personal relationship, but she begins to open up and let herself grow and change throughout the book - which I loved watching.

Max is a fantastic leading guy for the book. He's smart, works hard, is determined to get and do what he wants, and is so incredibly supportive of Trish during the entire novel. In essence, he's the perfect guy (in my opinion at least). He's not afraid of his growing feelings for Trish and refuses to let her push him away - he's in it for the long haul. I loved absolutely everything about him. I don't ever do book boyfriends, but if I did - Max would be at the top of my list. I adored watching his feelings for Trish grow along with their relationship - it was so sweet and totally swoonworthy. The plot is one that touches on very difficult topics such as drug use, sexual abuse, incest, and much more. But it's also one of hope, love, and the power that these two things can have in a person's life if they allow them to. The story focuses on positive topics as well - friendship, love, trust, the power within each of us. It might have an ugly backstory, but the part of the story that actually takes place during the book is wonderfully uplifting and beautiful. There were a few times that I found Trish's character to be a bit annoying though. It felt like she was just whining and complaining about all of the same things over and over again - all the time. That became a bit irritating, but didn't last throughout the whole book and didn't really effect my overall experience with the novel.

As I mentioned, there are difficult topics in the book that might cause some readers to not even try it, and it may contain triggers for some people. I suggest that you know what the book is fully about if any of these concern you and decide from there if you should read it or not. I highly recommend this book to fans of the genre as well as to readers who enjoy uplifting and hopeful romance stories.

DEEPER WE FALL (Book #1)

Two years after her best friend was involved in a car accident that caused a traumatic brain injury, Lottie Anders is ready to start her freshman year of college. Ready to move on. Ready to start forgetting the night that ripped her life apart.

Zack is cruel, selfish and constantly rubbing what happened to her friend in Lottie's face.

Zan is different. He listens to her awkward ramblings. He loves To Kill a Mockingbird as much as she does, and his dark eyes are irresistible. His words are few and far between, but when he does speak, she can't help but listen.

The trouble is, Zan was the driver in the accident, and now Lottie's discovered he lied to her about what happened that night. Now she must decide if trusting him again will lead to real forgiveness, or deeper heartache.

Author Note from Chelsea M. Cameron:

When I started this series, I’d only written one new adult contemporary book (My Favorite Mistake) and I knew I was hooked on the genre. The idea for the first book came from a ques-tion: What if you fell in love with someone you hated? From there the story of Lottie and Zan un-folded. I actually had to stop writing the first book, 40,000 words in and start over. I’d originally written Zan as snarky and loud, but that definitely wasn’t him. His mind was loud, but he was ac-tually pretty quiet otherwise. Once I locked onto his voice, the rest of the book came. I intended it to be one book. No series. But I wanted to know what happened with Katie and Stryker. And Will and Audrey. And Trish and Max. The books took on a life of their own and I was just follow-ing along after them, tripping over my feet. This series has meant so much to me. I’ve been working on it for almost three years now and the characters are constantly on my mind.

I knew I was going to love writing Trish’s book the first time I met her. She’s snarky and has no filter and is a bit of a contradiction of a person. Someone who loves romantic books and movies, but doesn’t believe in that kind of love for herself. I knew she would need someone who would challenge her. Who would put up with her. Who would care for her and not let her down. Enter Max. You don’t know a whole lot about him and I did that on purpose. I wanted to reveal him through his interactions with her. I love this book. I really, really do. It’s sweet and heart-breaking and uplifting. Oh, and there’s some sexytimes in there too. I hope you love this book as much as I’ve loved writing it. Thank you so much for your support and love for this series. I couldn’t have done it without you.
