Eight Will Fall is an exciting new young adult fantasy that fans of the genre are sure to enjoy. There were a lot of aspects that I really enjoyed, but one big thing that held me back from really loving this book was the writing style. If you've read my reviews before, you know how important writing style - especially the point of view the story is told in - plays a huge role in my reading experience. I almost always prefer the first person POV because it allows a deeper and more personal connection between the narrator and the reader. My least favorite is the third person POV, which is what this story is told in. I never seem to lose myself inside the story like I need to or connect with the characters on a meaningful level. Sadly, this was the case with this book. The description sounded promising and I was excited to check it out, but it fell short of my hopes mainly due to the writing style. Please remember that this is only my own personal opinion and not everyone is going to feel this way. I'm just giving my honest opinion.

The characters were rounded and pretty realistic, but I had an issue really connecting with them like I usually do (due to the writing style). I enjoyed getting to know each of them, learning everything I could about each one - their hopes and dreams, fears, memories, histories, thoughts and everything in between. I also liked watching the characters growing and changing themselves and with each other. Again, the story had a ton of potential and was incredibly intriguing. I did enjoy the plot - especially the magic aspect and the journey the characters have to embark on in order to save their kingdom. I wasn't able to get as deeply invested in the story - again due to my personal issues with the writing style. Overall, it was a interesting and thrilling YA fantasy that fans of the genre should definitely check out.
