Synopsis:

Fiercely independent and smart, Zora Emerson wants to change the world. She's excited to be attending a prestigious summer program, even if she feels out of place among her privileged, mostly white classmates. So she's definitely not expecting to feel a connection to Owen, who's an actual prince of an island off the coast of England. But Owen is funny, charming...and undeniably cute. Zora can't ignore the chemistry between them. When Owen invites Zora to be his date at his big brother's big royal wedding, Zora is suddenly thrust into the spotlight, along with her family and friends. Everyone is talking about her, in real life and online, and while Owen is used to the scrutiny, Zora's not sure it's something she can live with. Can she maintain her sense of self while moving between two very different worlds? And can her feelings for Owen survive and thrive in the midst of the crazy? Find out in this charming romantic comedy that's like The Princess Diaries for a new generation.

3 Quick Q’s for main TRULY MADLY ROYALLY character Zora Emerson:

What do you like about Owen?
Owen is one dreamy dude. He’s cute, witty, down-to-earth, smart and so much fun to flirt with. But what I like the most is how easy he is to talk to and hang out with. I don’t know if it was obvious, but I kinda felt out of place at Halstead U. When I’m with Owen, all of those worries fade away, and I can just relax and be myself. That feeling wins, every time.

What’s it like to date a real prince?
If it’s the right prince like my Owen, it’s sweet, exciting and fun. But if you add a curious public to the mix, be prepared for things to get tricky. Always be aware of the closest exit, in case you both have to dash. It’s not a bad idea to have a getaway car nearby for quick escapes (princes have access to that kind of clout). And whatever you do, don’t read the gossip sites and pore over old photos of his alleged exes. Trust me.

What’s so special about your hometown of Applewood?
My city may not have the best reputation on local newscasts, but there’s way more to it than what you hear. It’s a place where nurturing happens, where dreams grow and where love lives. There’s so much good there. I know this because the people who are the most special to me work and sleep there—people like my parents, my stepdad, my brother and my Walk Me Home kids. Come visit and see for yourself!

YA author Debbie M. Rigaud began her writing career covering news and entertainment for magazines. She’s interviewed celebs, politicians, social figures and “real” girls. Her writing has appeared in Seventeen, CosmoGIRL!, Essence, J-14, Trace, Heart&Soul and Vibe Vixen, to name a few. Her first YA fiction writing was published in the anthology HALLWAY DIARIES (KimaniTru Press/September 2007). Her first standalone YA book--a Simon Pulse romantic comedy titled PERFECT SHOT--is due out in the Fall of 2009.

Recreated Blog Tour: Character Interview + Giveaway

Welcome to my stop on the blog tour for RECREATED by Colleen Houck! Today I have a fun interview with Amon, the Egyptian Prince, who is one of the main characters from the book to share with you - and don't forget to enter the awesome giveaway!

Recreated (Reawakened #2)
Author: Colleen Houck
Genre: YA Fantasy/Mythology
Release Date: August 2, 2016
Publisher: Delacorte Press

Description:

From Colleen Houck, New York Times bestselling author of The Tiger’s Curse, comes Recreated, the second book in the epic Egyptian-inspired Reawakened series, in which a seventeen-year-old must literally go to hell to save the love of her life.

Lily Young thought traveling across the globe with a reawakened sun prince was a grand adventure. Now she’s about to embark on the journey of a lifetime.

When Amon and Lily part tragically, he transports himself to the Netherworld—what mortals call hell. Tormented by the loss of his one true love, he’d rather suffer in agony during Lily’s mortal years than fulfill his duty to protect humanity.

Heartbroken, Lily seeks refuge on her grandmother’s farm. Yet she can feel Amon’s pain, and she has been having dreams—dreams of Amon continually suffering.

For before he departed, Amon gave Lily something very special, an item that connects them even though they are worlds apart. Now Lily must use this object to free him, and to free their realms from darkness and utter chaos. She will do whatever it takes.

INTERVIEW WITH THE EGYPTIAN PRINCE, AMON

1. What was your first impression of Lilliana Young?

Amon: I assumed she was a devotee who had been prepared to serve me at my rising. I had learned a long time before not to be surprised at the differences in attire but this was my first time seeing a woman wearing a man's trouser. I remember her hair most of all. She had a lot of hair and I wanted to touch it.

2. How does it feel when you are Reawakened?

Amon: You might think it’s painful but it is not. We do not experience pain of body until we reside in our new forms. I miss the sense of taste and touch when in the Afterlife and my new body is always hungry which is why the first thing I seek out is food. Awakening in a new healthy form is a pleasant experience.

3. Do you feel time in the same way a mortal experiences it when you are in the Afterlife?

Amon: The Afterlife is incredibly dull. When our duties are completed we spend our time exploring the cosmos using our various abilities--Asten peers into dreams, Ahmose seeks undiscovered pathways, and I use the Eye of Horus. Time moves slowly there and we always look forward to the brief time we are allowed to exist on the mortal plane. Having my brothers close by has been a blessing of the gods.

4. Were you able to see loved ones in the afterlife such as your family?

Amon: We were allowed to escort our family members after they died but our time with them was too brief. Sadly, they did not see us as their sons any longer but as gods to worship. It wasn't until I met Young Lily that I was treated like a person rather than a god.

5. Was there ever another girl in your life?

Amon: No. I did not pursue relationships like Asten or Ahmose. Even when I met Young Lily I was resistant to the idea, but she slowly melted my resolve. It was not because I was not interested in romance, but to pursue the heart of a young woman when I was trapped in between worlds felt cruel to both her and myself.

6. Did you ever have jealous feelings towards Asten or Ahmose?

Amon: Possessing the Eye of Horus gave me insight into many things including Lily's heart. I knew she loved me in truth and would not pursue another under normal circumstances. I was never jealous of my brothers for I know them as I know myself and they are noble. Horus, on the other hand, I wanted to resign to the blackest pit of the Netherworld.

7. Do you ever miss your mortal life?

Amon: There are many things I miss about the mortal realm. The taste of Danishes, for example. The softness of Lily's hair. But I am glad that I was preserved until Lily's time. If I had lived and died in the time I was born, there was much I never would have seen. How could I explain the height of the buildings in Lily's city? Or the taste of the red dogs sold on the street? My brothers thought I was inventing stories. But more importantly than these, I wanted to experience a life with someone I could love, no matter the enticements future centuries might bring.

8. What is your favorite color?

Amon: My favorite color is the shade of gold in Lily's hair after I touch it.

9. What is your favorite food?

Amon: Cherry Danishes and brunch

10. What were your last thoughts as you said your goodbyes to Lily at the end of book one, Reawakened?

Amon: My last thoughts when I left Lily were about her safety. Anubis promised he would watch over her and yet I knew there was information he kept to himself. My own life meant nothing. I had long ago relegated myself to the fate of death and rebirth so the pain that came with my death did not occupy my mind.

CONNOR

Full Name: Connor Jacks
Nickname (if applicable): Dragon Hunter
Height: 6’
Hair Color: brown
Eye Color: blue
Age:  17
Originally from: Strata A – 200 years in the future

Describe yourself in 200 words or less:

I’m a Dragon Hunter from the future who was sent back in time 200 years to find the world’s last dragon egg that has been unearthed from a melting glacier. My mission: destroy the egg and save the world. I am brave, steadfast, loyal and honorable and I believe in obeying orders above all. After all, disobeying orders when I was a child resulted in my father’s death, something I still blame myself for.

What matters most to you?

My mission. I was sent here to save the world and no one will stop me from doing it. Also, Trinity, my girlfriend. Unfortunately, more often than not, these two things are at odds with one another – a source of continual frustration.

When not trying to save the world, how do you spend your time?

I don’t understand the question. I am always trying to save the world.

If money was no object and you had 3 weeks of vacation from being on the run what would you do with your time?

Probably go crazy, ha ha. But seriously, I might ask Trinity to teach me how to play her videogames. I know they mean a lot to her.
“Okay, Fire Kissed,” he said. “It’s showtime.”

Together they jumped out of the truck, slamming the doors behind them. Connor ran around the back, rolling up the door and pulling out a huge box. Trinity helped him heave it onto the loading dock.

“Are you okay in there?” she whispered to the box. “Perfect,” Nate assured her from inside. “You guys go on ahead. I should be close enough now to hack into their security cameras and get them offline.” He paused then added, “Good luck. Just don’t forget about me once you have your dragon.”

“Never,” Trinity assured him, patting the box. Then she rose to her feet and approached Connor. “Ready?”

“As I’ll ever be.”

With confident, casual steps, they strode up to the guard, who was propped in a chair by the elevator, his feet up, nose in a book, completely ignoring the chaos around him. Guess deliveries weren’t in his job description. Connor gave him a small smile. “We need the elevator,” he informed him.

“Yeah, well, I need my ex-wife to get off my back,” the guard said lazily, snapping his gum. “We’ve all got problems.” Connor’s eyes zeroed in on him. “I don’t think you understand,” he said. “We need the elevator. We need to get upstairs. You need to let us in.”

Trinity drew in a breath, watching him work. She had to admit, Connor looked particularly hot when he was working to manipulate people’s minds. It was like he got this look in his eyes—those blue, glowing eyes of his—like he was some kind of Jedi Master or something. Truth be told, it kind of made her want to jump his bones. Not that this was the time or the place.

Pushing the inappropriate thought down, she turned back to his victim. Sure enough, the man’s face had gone slack, and he was staring up at Connor with vacant eyes. “You need the elevator,” he droned. “You need to get upstairs. You need me to let you in.”

Then, to Trinity’s excitement, he slowly rose to his feet, walked over to the elevator in question, and inserted his key. Just like that. A moment later, the doors yawned open. The guard looked at them expectantly.

Trin flashed Connor an approving look. You didn’t even need my help for that one, she teased.

Yeah, well, it’s all you from here on out, he shot back, but he looked pleased by the compliment all the same.

Today we have an opportunity to get to know Melodee and Nathan. They have taken time out of their busy schedules to answer a few questions for us.

J: Thanks for chatting with us today, Melodee & Nathan.
M: Sure. No problem.
N: It’s Nate and Dee too.

N: And I love me some beautiful dark-haired fighter girl.

J: Where will you be in ten years?
M: Hopefully not here still answering questions.
N: NBA.

J: Any last words? What motto do you live by?
M: You don’t need a weapon when you are one. Please tell me this is the last question.
N: No motto, I take life as it comes and don’t sweat the small stuff.

Thank you, Melodee and Nathan. It’s been a pleasure meeting you both. You seem like you’re very different people, I have a feeling it will be interesting discovering your journey in Songbird.

Interview with Gray Thomas, college baseball player from Finally, Forever

What do you look for in a person?

A sense of humor.

What is the worst mistake of your life?

I let someone amazing slip through my fingers. I think I made the right decision for her, but it was a crappy decision for me.

What do you think is important in a relationship?

Sex. Lots of incredible sex. Okay, I’m kidding. No I’m not. Seriously, I think compromising is important—just being on the same page with each other. Relationships will never work if you aren’t on a mutual path. I’ve definitely learned that.

What song are you obsessing over right now?

This spring I was in a coffee shop meeting with a study group. There was a song playing by Beck. It’s an old song, called Loser. That song intrigues the hell out of me. The lyrics make NO SENSE. I’m a Beck fan in general, so I did some research, and the lead singer claims that’s the point of the song. It’s not supposed to make sense. They are just random lines meant to get a rise out of people, to surprise them, to entertain them and keep their attention. I think that’s a great metaphor for life in general. And it’s a pretty awesome song.

What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?

Dylan said something to me a few years ago that I’ll never forget. She reminded me to stop taking myself so seriously. She said you need to take life seriously, but not yourself. She’s right. Focusing on yourself is detrimental to your happiness.

Do you think you will play professional baseball?

That seems to be my calling. Baseball has always come naturally to me. I like the control on the field, it’s so different from how out of control it is in the real world. The field is my escape. I love being at the pitcher’s mound and staring down a batter. I love the feeling of striking him out. It’s a strange sort of therapy.

If you couldn’t play baseball, what would you do?

I don’t know. I’d probably stalk Dylan and see what she’s up to.

What is your strength?

I have a really good memory. It’s hard for me to forget anything. Or anyone.

What is your weakness?

I have a really good memory. It’s hard for me to forget anything. Or anyone.

If you had to pick a musician to write a soundtrack to your life, who would it be?

That’s tough because my mood changes and so does my taste in music. If I’m having a bad day, I would say Eminem. If I’m inspired, then probably The Killers. But I think I would have to go with Ryan Adams.

A Q&A with Grey Lachlan (from KISSING EDEN) and Colton Waters (from THE HAZARDS OF A ONE NIGHT STAND).

Ideal first date?

GL: I’m not big on crowds or loud places, so I’d take her somewhere we could share a beer, maybe listen to some music.

CW: I'm all about low key first dates too. Gives you a chance to really see who she is.
What's your perfect beach day?

GL: I don’t have much time to hang out on the beach, but I try to get a nice long run in first thing in the morning. I like it when it’s quiet and have it to myself.

CW: Running on the beach would be a pretty good way to start the day.

Blondes or brunettes? (better answer that one right or he's in trouble)

GL: Definitely blondes

CW: Brunettes.

Boxers or briefs?

GL: I’m a boxer briefs kind of guy

CW: Boxers here.

Most romantic vacation spot?

GL: There are some great little towns in Mexico. I know I’m not what most girls think of as romantic, but I can pick out a destination that has pretty sunsets and beaches.

CW: Secluded cabin in the mountains. Just me, the girl and nature.

What's the best part of dating in a small town like Gasden?

CW: The best part of dating in a small town is you know what you're in for. Like with Mallory, I've known her forever and already knew everything about her.

GL: Man, you have a better outlook on it than I do. I get tired of the grapevine in Padre. People know I’m going on a date before I do.

What's the sexiest thing a girl should wear on a date?

CW: If a girl has nice legs she might as well show them off. I'm all about the short skirt or dress, but it's got to be tasteful. Leave something to the imagination, and my eyes only.

GL: Couldn’t agree with you more.
What's the sure way to turn you off?

CW: If a girl's mean to other girls I want nothing to do with her. I'm not talking about her standing up for herself, but the catty stuff.

GL: Yeah, mean girls for sure are a turn off.

What's the most romantic thing a girl has done for you?

CW: Mallory surprised me on my birthday with a night out on the town. It ended at a hotel, and let me tell you It was a better venue than my dorm room.

GL: Sounds like you had a good time.

We know you love where you're from, but if you had to pick somewhere to live where would it be and why?

CW: I've grown to love Charleston. It's southern yet urban at the same time. I might just stay here if I can convince someone else to stay with me.

GL: It would be hard for me to think about leaving Padre, but there might be just one reason to relocate. I’ll leave it at that for now.

If a girl tried to woo you, what three things would help her win you over?

CW: 1) A great smile
2) The ability to make me laugh
3) Willingness to watch college sports
But sorry ladies, I'm off the market.

GL: You had me at watch college sports, man.
