Betrayal (The Twins of Saranthium #2)
Author: Lara Morgan
Genre: Fantasy
Release Date: March 1, 2010
Publisher: Macmillan Australia
Description:
From fantasy writer
Lara Morgan comes the second in her engrossing, enchanting, exciting
Twins of Saranthium trilogy, perfect for curbing Game of Thrones
withdrawals.
Shaan and Tallis have escaped from the fallen god, Azoth, but his dark shadow stretches over the enslaved people of the Wild Lands and the terrifying army of human-serpent warriors. War is coming, but the Council of Nine turn from the twins and their tales of Azoth’s menace, focusing instead on a war on the Free Lands.
Meanwhile, the Four Lost Gods have awoken, ready to reclaim the Birthstone currently in Azoth’s possession. But rather than the saviours Shaan and Tallis needed, the Four begin to exert terrible control over the people of Saranthium. With Tallis struggling to control the growing power within, and Shaan attempting to resist the pull of Azoth, the twins are under assault from all sides. Victory may still be possible, but only through a devastating act of betrayal.

Dream Cast:
Casting the lead roles of Shaan and Tallis
was something I was going to do but found impossible. They are such
strongly drawn characters in my head that I couldn’t find any actors who
came close to my vision for them. The supporting cast however is
another matter and I had great fun researching who could play some of my
most favourite characters.
Viggo Mortensen to play Rorc the commander of the armies of Salmut and major player in the twins lives. There was no contest in deciding who to cast for this character, in fact Viggo was always the actor I modelled Rorc
on ever since I saw him play Aragorn in Lord of the Rings. Really,
what’s not to love about a man who gets better looking the dirtier he
gets?
Chris Hemsworth to play Balkis. Serpent rider, rich boy and all round lady killer, Balkis has to be in possession of certain – cough - attributes. So Hemsworth
whose, tall, blonde, blue eyed and has the physique of a Greek god is a
natural. Plus he’s Australian and I considered it my duty to thoroughly
research the pics of him for this one. It's a tough job but.....
Elizabeth Mitchell to play Tuon; Shaan’s oldest friend, courtesean and spy. Queen of the small screen, Elizabeth has been in a raft of sci fi shows and can play it tough or seductive, just the right combination for Tuon.
Richard Armitage to play Azoth.
It takes something special to play the two thousand plus year old god
and ancestor to the twins. He’s got to be handsome and charming yet
capable of immense cruelty and ruthlessness and I think Armitage could
pull it off. Remember him as Guy of Gisborne in Robin Hood or the ultimately doomed and disturbed Lucas North in Spooks? Forget playing dwarves, Richard, it’s gods your destined for.
