Description:

"We all hold a beast inside. The only difference is what form it takes when freed."

Rain Ryland has never belonged anywhere, He’s use to people judging him for his rough background, his intimidating size, and now, his orphan status. He’s always been on the outside, looking in, and he’s fine with that. Until he moves to New Wurzburg and meets Friederike Burkhart.

Freddie isn’t like normal teen girls, though. And someone wants her dead for it. Freddie warns he’d better stay far away if he wants to stay alive, but Rain’s never been good at running rom trouble. For the first time, Rain has something worth fighting for, worth living for. Worth dying for.

Ancient magic and modern society collide in a sexy, spellbinding romance perfect for fans of C. C. Hunter and Maggie Stiefvater that proves sometimes beauty is the beast…
Haven was another fantastic novel that I adored. I had been dying to read it for months, and by the time I finally got to dive in, I had pretty high hopes. Luckily, I had nothing to worry about because it surpassed any expectations I had. There were a couple of elements that were typical - the misunderstood and complicated male main character who falls for the female lead and finally feels like he's found a "home." Even though this is a common theme, I felt that it fit great into the overall plot and rounded out the story nicely. I also had a hint of what the underlying story was going to be about, after reading the description and a few other factors. I'm a huge fan of paranormal though, so I was ready for anything - and that was another wonderful book that I really liked.

I really liked the two main characters - Rain and Freddie - and immediately identified with them both at the start of the story. They were both complex with distinct traits and flaws - making them realistic and believable. I loved getting to know each of them - their personal histories, their thoughts and ideas, emotions, memories, and everything else. And (of course) I loved watching their relationship blossom and grow throughout the story. The plot was interesting and fast paced, which made it a quick read for me. The story naturally unfolds and reveals little secrets as the story progresses, and I loved learning about each small detail. I don't do spoilers in my reviews, so I can't say much more without giving anything away. I really enjoyed everything about this book and I can confidently say that it was worth the wait. I highly recommend this book for fans of paranormal, fantasy, contemporary and romance.

Mary Lindsey is a multi award-winning, RITA® nominated author of romance for adults and teens. She lives on an island in the middle of a river. Seriously, she does. When not writing, she wrangles her rowdy pack of three teens, two Cairn Terriers, and one husband.

Inexplicably, her favorite animal is the giant anteater and at one point, she had over 200 "pet" Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches. The roaches are a long story involving three science-crazed kids and a soft spot for rescue animals. The good news is, the "pet" roaches found a home... somewhere else.
