Book Trailer
Description:
A smart, sexy entrepreneur. A wealthy, arrogant ladies’ man set on purchasing her company. And a hotbed of chemistry neither one of them anticipated.
Aiden Stewart is just going through the motions of running the family business, a mega communications company snapping up all the competition. His trip to a tiny New England town to negotiate the purchase of ChatDotCom is nothing more than an interruption in his plans for his next female conquest. The last thing he expects is for Chat’s CEO M. Jordan Fitzgerald to be a woman who takes his breath away.
Jordan is focused on business, not romance. She’s got too much at stake, working to protect Chat’s employees, as well as making sure her family is taken care of. Falling in love is not part of the business plan, but resisting the man she really should not want is proving impossible.
When a rival wants to take over Chat too, Jordan struggles to keep her personal life from affecting the business deal. With secrets that could ruin everything, she has to decide if she can balance business with pleasure.
Linda Cunningham introduces hot new characters in her second Small Town novel, a steamy office romance set in idyllic Clark’s Corner, Vermont.
Q: This book is part of the Small Town series, however, it can be read as a standalone. How does it connect to the series?
LC: In the Small Town series each book reflects an individual love story. All these stories take place in the same small town, so characters overlap. Caleb and Lauren, from the first book, make appearances in the second book. As the series grow, the characters become more intertwined, which is just what happens in a small town. Each love story can stand by itself, but all the people are part of a way of life that supports and nurtures that love story.
Q: What is your favorite scene or was your favorite to write in CORPORATE AFFAIR? Don’t forget to tell us why. :)
LC: One of my favorite scenes to write in “Corporate Affair” was the scene near the end of the book where Aiden finally loses his temper and demands, for the good of their relationship, that Jordan divulge her secret. The scene is full of different and conflicting emotions – anger, frustration, guilt, and of course, love. It is one of my favorite scenes because Aiden is able to make Jordan finally break free from herself and realize that a relationship is made up of two people and that each one is stronger because of the other. Heretofore, Jordan had been afraid to give her all, to bare her soul, because she was afraid it would weaken her abilities to carry out her professional and personal responsibilities. Aiden shows her that loving another person only enhances and strengthens those qualities while opening new horizons they can face together.
Q: In the first two Small Town books, you create swoon worthy male leads. How do you create these men? Are they a mix of real life men, men you wish were real, etc.?
LC: Ha! Caleb Cochran is almost a mirror image of a personal friend of mine. Like Caleb, he is indeed swoon worthy, and has a level head and quiet ways. When I told him I was patterning the hero of my novel after him, he smiled and blushed! Aiden is a bit more of a mix of men I've known and my personal touches to his personality. Of course, he had to have a different personality from Caleb. Aiden is more of a hot head, not so pragmatic as Caleb. However, they both possess those qualities that you always find in “hero” type men, whether in real life or in the pages of a novel. They all have an innate intelligence that makes them able to handle just about anything that comes along, as well as a depth of emotion that allows them to love without restraint or limitations.
Q: What is next for this series or is there something new you are working on and can share?
LC: There are two more dimensions coming to Clark's Corner. I'll just give a hint or two. The next novel is the story of a love that has been in Clark's Corner for some time and faces a crisis of identity as love stories often do. Want to know more about John Giamo, the taciturn police chief? Then this story is for you. Also in the works is a cowboy romance. Yes! In New England! A cowboy, marooned by betrayal, finds a life raft in a new love.
