Anthem's Fall
Author: S.L. Dunn
Genre: Science Fiction
Release Date: July 2014
Publisher: Prospect Hill Press

Description:

Above a horrified New York City, genetics and ethics collide as the fallen emperor and a banished exile of the same herculean race ignite into battle over the city’s rooftops. In the streets below, a brilliant young scientist has discovered a technology that can defeat them both, yet might be more terrible than either.

Set both in modern New York City and in the technologically sophisticated yet politically savage world of Anthem, Anthem’s Fall unfurls into a plot where larger than life characters born with the prowess of gods are pitted against the shrewd brilliance of a familiar and unlikely heroine.

Dream Cast

Hmm, this is a tricky one for me. The main characters in Anthem’s Fall are all around twenty years old, and I’m not exactly up to date on actors that age. Nevertheless I’ll try my best. If a given actor or actress is older, just imagine them when they were twenty!

Kristen Jordan—She’s a somewhat cynical yet undeniably brilliant PhD candidate in NYC. In time, two worlds and billions of lives will depend upon her genius. Emilia and Emma would have to get their American accents down, and Rooney would have to act normal for a change.

Rooney Mara / Emilia Clarke / Emma Watson

Vengelis Epsilon//Gravitas Nerol—Two young men with very different perspectives, they were born with the prowess of gods on the world of Anthem. One is the fallen emperor and the other is a banished exile. They are the celebrated children of similar Royal bloodlines, and their casting would be comparable to one another. Their Sejero blood has imparted them with incredible strength and speed surpassing that of even the giant warriors in the Imperial army.

Here’s the thing. I’m not exactly familiar with up-and-coming teen heart throbs, so this one isn’t easy. In that spirit, I’m going to say that I’d want two young actors who could somehow coalesce these three guys. Asking for too much? Perhaps.

Gosling/Cumberbatch/Jackman hybrids would do well.

Lord General Hoff—The warrior classes of Anthem, though inferior physically to the Sejero purity of Royal sons and daughters, are grotesquely muscled from years of eugenics and selective breeding. They are horrible and terrifying to behold, and they are known for their cruelty. A quick Google search of Mr. Olympia got the job done. I envision something along these lines:

Felix 3—A machine with glowing blue eyes created using Felix cell technology coupled with Sejero blood. She is more aptly described as an it, and it will be one of the four brutal and merciless machines to bring a race of gods to its knee to the screams of a holocaust. Meh, why not Blake Lively.
S.L. Dunn is the debut author of Anthem’s Fall, a novel he wrote amid the wanderings of his mid twenties. He has written while living intermittently in St. John USVI, Boston, Maine and Seattle. Raised on big screen superheroes and pop science fiction, he sought to create a novel that bridged a near-sci-fi thriller with a grand new fantasy. He currently resides in Seattle with his girlfriend Liz and their dog Lucy, and is hard at work completing the next book of the Anthem’s Fall series.
