Bout of Books: Day 2 Challenges & Update

Day 1 Update:
Yesterday was the first day of the RAT, and I managed to read Blood of Anteros by Georgia Cates. This was a book I needed to review for a blog tour. Today, I'm going to pick something that I need to review but that I've been really wanting to read. I'm not sure what that will be yet, but I'm excited to read something that I want to for a change!

Limerick Challenge

My Limerick:

My world is filled with books
They're stuffed in my house's nooks
I lose myself in their pages
It seems I can read for ages
Books, books are everywhere one looks.

Relocate Challenge

I just finished reading Blood of Anteros by Georgia Cates. The story is set in Mississippi. I'm going to move the characters to Alaska. This would change the story because a good deal of the scenes between the two main characters happen outside and/or at the beach. They wouldn't be able to stay outside for long in Alaska and going to the beach wouldn't be that fun. AND - since Curry is a vampire, Alaska's weird day/night scheduling would make things a lot different in the story too.

Once Upon a Read-a-Thon: Update & Mini Challenges

Update for Monday 7/9:

I started out a bit late in the day yesterday, but I was able to read The Little Woods by McCormick Templeman. I'm pretty happy with my progress so far. I'll be trying to start earlier today and get more read.

Today, for Day #2, I'll be reading Dead Radiance by T.G. Ayer and hopefully at least starting Some Kind of Fairy Tale by Graham Joyce.

Mini Challenge: Day #2 - Hosted by Kindle Fever

Once upon a time there was a bookish fight…

As the story teller, I now want you to tell me which two characters are fighting and WHY! If you want to, you’re also more than welcome to guess the outcome. ;)

It doesn’t have to be anything too detailed; we’re here to have fun!

If I had to choose two book characters to fight each other, I would go with a nice cat fight. I'd put Bellatrix Lestrange from Harry Potter up against Rachel Morgan from Kim Harrison's Hollows series.
WHY? Because Bellatrix is a nasty bully who thinks she is the best witch on earth - she need brought down a peg - or several. She needs her ass kicked. Rachel Morgan is a chick who will not put up with any BS. She would totally kick Bellatrix's butt and then some. She'd teach her a lesson that wouldn't soon be forgotten - she would put Bellatrix in her place.

Leave a comment if you're participating so I can check out your goals & progress!

Once Upon a Read-a-Thon: Kick Off & Mini Challenge!

Today is the first day of the Once Upon a Read-A-Thon! This is only my 2nd read-a-thon I've participated in, so I'm pretty excited to participate! I don't have really defined goals for this read-a-thon, I'm just hoping to get a good amount of reading in.

These are some of the books I'm hoping to read:

Mini Challenge Day #1 @ IB Book Blogging

Question #1: What is your favorite cover that has been revealed this summer and why? Post a link or picture of the cover if you want.

I love how dark and Gothic this cover is. I think it fits well with the first book's cover and with the series. Love the font used for the title too!

Question #2: Do you rely on the cover to help you choose whether you want to read a book or not?

Since the cover is the first thing potential readers see, I obviously notice them. If they look really poorly done or unattractive to me, I do second guess looking at them further. If I think the cover is at least intriguing and the title makes me curious, then I'll read the description to decide if it sounds like something I would like.
