Description:

Bad boy, meet bad girl.

Dante has a shiny new cuff wrapped around his ankle, and he doesn't like that mess one bit. His new accessory comes straight from Big Guy himself and marks the former demon as a liberator. Despite his gritty past and bad boy ways, Dante Walker has been granted a second chance.

When Dante is given his first mission as a liberator to save the soul of seventeen-year-old Aspen, he knows he’s got this. But Aspen reminds him of the rebellious life he used to live and is making it difficult to resist sinful temptations. Though Dante is committed to living clean for his girlfriend Charlie, this dude’s been a playboy for far too long…and old demons die hard.

With Charlie becoming the girl she was never able to be pre-makeover and Aspen showing him how delicious it feels to embrace his inner beast, Dante will have to go somewhere he never thought he’d return to in order to accomplish the impossible: save the girl he’s been assigned to, and keep the girl he loves.

The Liberator is the second book in a young adult fantasy/paranormal series that continues to follow our bad boy main character Dante Walker. After spending decades as a collector (aka demon), he's still trying to adjust to being on the opposite team as a liberator for the Big Guy himself. He doesn't feel any different and he certainly doesn't act any different. How is he supposed to liberate souls for Heaven if he is still a demon at heart? Now Dante has an assignment, a teenage girl named Aspen, and it's his job to liberate her soul. On top of slipping back into his old ways, Dante doesn't understand the changes that Charlie - the girl he loves - seems to be making. And there's a secret sect of humans trying to hurt Aspen and Charlie - and it's up to Dante and his liberator friends to save both of them before it's too late.

It has been too long since I read and reviewed The Collector because I forgot how much I love Dante and why. I started in on The Liberator with Dante as his usual self - arrogant, cocky, self centered - a total ass. It was really fascinating to watch Dante fight his inner demon and try to accept his new life as a liberator for the Big Guy. The plot was completely captivating and I found myself eagerly reading as fast as I could to see what would happen next. Along with the paranormal and fantasy aspects of the novel - the whole angels and demons, Heaven and Hell, fight for souls - there was a bit of a mystery surrounding this secret group of humans who were out to get Charlie and Aspen. I loved trying to figure out who they were and what was really happening. There are definitely twists and turns along with tons of action in the book, which I thought kept things moving at a great pace and had me at the edge of my seat with every page. There is definitely romance in the novel - and when I read about Charlie and Dante, I remembered why I love him so much. Their relationship grows and changes in this book and I loved watching them do it together. Charlie is a great leading lady in the series - she's smart, brave, strong, and so very kind. Dante is a fantastic main character. Underneath his whole bad boy exterior, he is a completely different person - especially when it comes to Charlie. He loves her so purely and without any hidden agenda that it almost breaks my heart. It's beautiful and it's the kind of love that makes you wish that you could have the same thing in your life. I also loved watching Dante's character grow and change throughout the book - we get to see him continue to grow into the person that Charlie always believed was inside of him - the good person who the Big Guy deemed worthy of being a liberator. The writing was exceptional as always and had me hooked from the first paragraph. I literally read the entire book in one sitting because I couldn't stop. The plot is fast paced with great descriptions and vivid details that had me easily identifying with the characters and feeling like I was right beside them as everything was happening. The only bad thing now is the wait for the next book, which will probably kill me with anticipation. I highly recommend this book and this series for fans of YA fantasy and paranormal romance. As for Dante, my heart remains his. Forever. :)
