Description:

Twenty-year-old Camryn Bennett had always been one to think out-of-the-box, who knew she wanted something more in life than following the same repetitive patterns and growing old with the same repetitive life story. And she thought that her life was going in the right direction until everything fell apart. Determined not to dwell on the negative and push forward, Camryn is set to move in with her best friend and plans to start a new job. But after an unexpected night at the hottest club in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina, she makes the ultimate decision to leave the only life she’s ever known, far behind. With a purse, a cell phone and a small bag with a few necessities, Camryn, with absolutely no direction or purpose boards a Greyhound bus alone and sets out to find herself. What she finds is a guy named Andrew Parrish, someone not so very different from her and who harbors his own dark secrets. But Camryn swore never to let down her walls again. And she vowed never to fall
in love. But with Andrew, Camryn finds herself doing a lot of things she never thought she’d do. He shows her what it’s really like to live out-of-the-box and to give in to her deepest, darkest desires. On their sporadic road-trip he becomes the center of her exciting and daring new life, pulling love and lust and emotion out of her in ways she never imagined possible. But will Andrew’s dark secret push them inseparably together, or tear them completely apart?

Due to sexual content and language, this book is recommended for 17+

The Edge of Never is a dramatic and emotional roller coaster of a novel. The main characters - Camryn and Andrew - both endeared themselves to me and frustrated the crap out of me at times. I don't normally read contemporary romance, so this was stepping outside my comfort zone - but I'm so glad that I gave it a shot. The writing was very well done and the book had a really natural pace to it that made me feel like I was there with the characters. Camryn was easy to like and had real problems, so I felt connected to her from the beginning. Andrew was also very realistic and well-rounded, so I felt myself really liking him too. As for the two of them together - the progression of their relationship was natural. It didn't feel forced or fake - there wasn't any of that "love at first sight" stuff. Their conversations and banter made me smile and I really enjoyed the way they played off of one another in all types of situations. At times, I really just wanted to smack each of them to try to knock some sense into them. They had their annoying and stupid moments - but that in and of itself made them all the more realistic. Their chemistry was electric and the tension between them was palpable. And because this was a new adult romance, there were sexual scenes in the book and they were steamy to put it mildly. Underneath all the flirting and sexual tension, there was definitely some deep things going on, which I liked. I think it brought a good balance to the book and added depth too. I was eager to see where they would end up and I was definitely rooting for them to end up together by the middle of the book. Each character had major issues to deal with, which of course made them flawed and added difficulty to their relationship, but it was a major part of the story and I loved getting to know each of them in turn and watch how things played out. The book is told in two points of view - Camryn and Andrew - usually as alternating chapters. It was interesting to see how the story went by seeing it through each of their eyes in turn. I liked getting a peek into what they were thinking and feeling as the plot went on. I think the multiple POVs added a great level to the book. Overall - this was a really fantastic contemporary romance that wasn't just the typical love story with some sex thrown in - it was deeper than that, with the characters finding themselves, breaking out of their own comfort zones, and opening themselves up to the one thing they swore they never would. Highly recommended!

Author of THE DARKWOODS TRILOGY and DIRTY EDEN, mother, werewolf & zombie fanatic, book addict and a happy hermit obsessed with the Universe. Oh, and AMC’s “The Walking Dead”.
Addictions: Starbucks every morning, trolling Barnes & Noble’s shelves once a week, detesting winter, shopping flea markets and preparing for the collapse of society as we know it. Do I own a tin foil hat? Maybe. :-)
I was born in Arkansas and have lived here most of my life, except the couple of times when I lived in Pennsylvania. I started my first novel at the age of thirteen and have been writing something ever since. Generally, I love characters in life and on paper. I pay attention to people, especially those whose personalities make them different from the rest of us: the drug addict roaming the Laundromat that talks to himself, the young, inattentive mother in the park with the meanest kid on the playground – (the entire cast of ‘Swamp People’) – characters fascinate me and I hope that it shows in my literary work.

  2. Nice Review!! Edge of never sounds like an intriguing read. I'm always partial to flawed and broken heroes and heroines. Ditto for great dialogue.
