Description:

Millennia ago, he fell from heaven for her.

Can he face her without falling again?

Fascinated with ancient civilizations, seventeen-year-old Mia Crawford dreams of becoming an archaeologist. She also dreams of wings—soft and silent like snow—and somebody trying to steal them.

When a horrible creature appears out of thin air and attacks her, she knows Michael Fontaine is involved, though he claims to know nothing about it. Secretive and aloof, Michael evokes feelings in Mia that she doesn’t understand. Images of another time and place haunt her. She recognizes them—but not from any textbook.

In search of the truth, Mia discovers a past life of forbidden love, jealousy and revenge that tore an angel from Heaven and sent her to an early grave. Now that her soul has returned, does she have a chance at loving that angel again? Or will an age-old nemesis destroy them both?

Ancient history is only the beginning.

The Watcher is a young adult paranormal romance that follows Mia Crawford - our 17-year-old leading lady - as her entire world is turned upside down once she realizes that the world she thought she knew isn't what it seems. After being attacked by a mysterious and terrible creature one day, Mia turns to Michael Fontaine - who claims to know nothing of the things she describes. Mia is sure he's hiding things from her and is constantly confused by the strange feelings she has around him - the way he makes her feel and the weird images of a different time and place that fill her mind. Determined to find answers, Mia goes on a journey where she discovers her past life - one that was filled with jealousy, love, and revenge. It also shows the devastating details of her previous death and the angel cast from Heaven for loving her. Mia must know decide if she will seek out her fallen love or let the past fall far behind her.

This was a very intense and beautiful novel unlike any other I've read before. It's full of deep topics like betrayal, jealousy, spiritual concepts, past lives, reincarnation, and true love. Mia was a great main character. I found myself immediately liking her and I could easily identify with her and her struggles. She was a realistic character with obvious flaws, but she was also really endearing. Michael was a great lead male character and I felt that his personality fit perfectly alongside Mia's. The plot of the story wasn't completely original, but it was done in a way that both broke my heart and filled it with hope and love at the same time. The romance and story of true love that broke all boundaries really moved me - and I usually roll my eyes at these types of situations in books and movies. The way that the author wrote the book was simply enchanting and definitely shows her immense talent. I was immediately sucked into the book alongside Mia and I didn't want the story to end. The pace was fast but not rushed and all the various threads of the story were intertwined seamlessly throughout the book. I don't want any spoilers in this review, so I'll stop while I'm ahead. Suffice it to say that this is a completely enthralling novel by a hugely talented author and I'm definitely going to be crossing my fingers for a sequel. Highly recommended for fans of YA fantasy and those who love an amazing love story.
