Description:
A cool, sexy romance novel written by seventeen-year-old British sensation Beth Reekles.
Meet Rochelle “Elle” Evans: pretty, popular—and never been kissed. Meet Noah Flynn: badass, volatile—and a total player.
When Elle decides to run a kissing booth at her school's Spring Carnival, she locks lips with Noah and her life is turned upside down. Her head says to keep away, but her heart wants to draw closer. This romance seems far from a fairy tale.
Is Elle headed for heartbreak or will she get her happily ever after?
The Kissing Booth is a young adult contemporary romance that follows our main character, Rochelle "Elle" Evans - a pretty, popular highschooler who gets the idea of running a kissing booth with her best friend, Lee, for their school's spring carnival. Enter Lee's older brother, Noah Flynn. He's gorgeous, older, and known to be a womanizer. Although Elle's convinced herself that her crush on Noah ended years ago, it's hard to ignore her racing heart when he's around - especially now that he's paying extra attention to her. When Noah kisses Elle - her first kiss - at the booth, her entire world is turned upside down and she finds herself quickly falling head over heels for Noah. Should she keep her distance or listen to her heart and let herself fall for him? Will this story end in heartache or happily ever after?
I don't normally read YA contemporary novels - they don't really appeal to me. I decided to give this book a shot after pitched by the publisher to review it. I'm so glad that I stepped outside my norm to give this one a shot! It's a really great read - fun and heart-warming - and one that I will definitely be recommending to others. The story itself was interesting and original despite the seemingly cliched description. I really loved Elle as the lead character. She was the epitome of a teenage girl that everyone wants to be - smart, popular, pretty - but she is also very trusting, sweet, and a bit naive. This only made me like her more because she was down to earth and realistic. I immediately liked her and found myself rooting for her right away. Noah is the typical love interest - gorgeous, older, a bit mysterious, a "player" but a sweetheart underneath. Although the relationship between Elle and Noah - the whole crushing on the best friend's older brother, etc. - wasn't anything super original, I still liked seeing where things would go between them and I was definitely hoping for the happy ending. The writing was very well done - the pace was perfect and easy to devour the pages. The descriptions, happenings, and setting were vivid and I could easily see myself alongside Elle throughout the story. The dialogue between the characters flowed naturally and easily - it didn't feel forced or fake, which happens in some books. Overall, this was a really fantastic YA contemporary novel, one that fans of the genre will definitely want to get their hands on. Highly recommended!
