Release Date: September 24, 2013
Publisher: HarperTeen

Description:
“Find Me.”

These are the words written on Tessa Waye’s diary. The diary that ends up with Wick Tate. But Tessa’s just been found . . . dead.

Wick has the right computer-hacking skills for the job, but little interest in this perverse game of hide-and-seek. Until her sister Lily is the next target.

Then Griff, trailer-park boy next door and fellow hacker, shows up, intent on helping Wick. Is a happy ending possible with the threat of Wick’s deadbeat dad returning, the detective hunting him sniffing around Wick instead, and a killer taunting her at every step?

Foster child. Daughter of a felon. Loner hacker girl. Wick has a bad attitude and sarcasm to spare.

But she’s going to find this killer no matter what.

Because it just got personal.

Find Me is a gripping young adult mystery/thriller novel that follows Wicket "Wick" Tate. Wick doesn't trust anyone - especially not after her mom killed herself, her dad went on the run for doing drugs, and her sister, Lily, and her were shoved into foster care. Wick keeps her head down and tries to remain invisible, except online. There she's a hacker. There she's powerful. The day after she hears the news that one of her old friends and classmates, Tessa Waye, killed herself, Wick receives a mysterious package on her porch. It's Tessa's journal and there's a sticky note inside that simply says "Find Me." After learning that Tessa may have been driven to suicide and that the person who went after her is now coming after Lily, Wick will let nothing stand in her way of stopping him - no matter what.

Thrillers are one of my favorite genres and I had high hopes for this book after reading the description. I definitely wasn't disappointed. The author weaves a taut story about a girl who commits suicide, a secret journal that details what really happened to her, and our heroine's mission to stop him before he can get anyone else. The plot was a great mystery that had me guessing up until the end of the book, which doesn't happen very often for me. Along with the main story line and mystery, there's smaller stories about Wick's father and his illegal ways, Wick's relationship and trust issues, and even some romance mixed in. I think adding these smaller plot lines added a good depth to the book and helped to keep things moving throughout the book. The book is full of twists and turns, which kept me eagerly reading as fast as I could to see what would happen next. Just when I thought I might have things figured out, another twist would jump out and I'd be back at square one. I enjoyed Wick as the main character in the book. She's smart, witty, and devoted to her sister, but she has definite flaws - like trust issues, issues with her family and her past, and problems with authority. She's a great main character because she's realistic and believable. I also liked that she was a foster kid - I think that it adds a layer to the book that makes it more interesting and also helps to show how kids in the foster system actually think and feel, as well as how they are treated. The writing was very well done with lots of vivid descriptions and intricate details that all discreetly led back to the mystery and who is behind it all. There were little lines from Tessa's journal at the beginning of each chapter - which I thought was really intriguing and puzzled me even more. Overall, this was a fantastic YA thriller/mystery that will have fans of the genre begging for more.
