The Angel Killer is a the second book in a young adult paranormal romance series that continues to follow Mia Crawford - our main character - as she's still trying to make sense of the hidden world she never knew about until she met Michael (again). Her entire world was turned upside down after being shown the truth in the first book. She's starting to adjust to her new life - and her relationship with Michael. But things can't stay quiet for long - more demon attacks and hellhounds are causing mayhem, and Mia is having visions again - ones that are anything but happy. When Michael is wounded by a cursed sword, it's up to Mia to save him with an ancient magical ritual. There's a price when doing this kind of magic, but Mia doesn't think twice when it comes to saving Michael. Mia's visions become more frequent and more violent than ever - showing her a world torn apart by blood and war. What they don't know - yet - is that there's an evil power controlling everything that's been happening. If they don't stop the danger before it's too late - what will become of the world? Will they be able to find and destroy the enemy or will it take too much, and cause more death, fear, and grief than the world has ever witnessed? It's going to take more than just Michael and Mia to stop this - but even with everyone else who is on their side and ready to fight - will it be enough to win?

In some series, I've found that the first book is exceptional and I'm hooked - only to be disappointed by the next book in the series. Luckily, this was definitely not the case with this sequel. Just like the first book, it was a very intense and beautiful novel - unlike anything I've read before. The series continues to discuss deep topics like betrayal, jealousy, spiritual concepts, past lives, reincarnation, and true love, which I find gives it an added weight that wouldn't be there otherwise. Mia continues to be a great main character. I found myself immediately identifying with her and her struggles - it was like I slipped into her world like no time had passed at all. She remains a realistic character with obvious flaws, but she was also devoted, kind, and loving - among several other strengths. Michael also continued to be a great lead male character and I felt that his personality fit perfectly alongside Mia's - especially after everything they went through in the first book, and the development and maturing of their relationship. The plot of the story wasn't completely original, but it was written in a way that both broke my heart and then filled it with hope and love at the same time. The romance and story of true love that broke all boundaries and the beautiful way it was written evoked a ton of feelings in me. Not many books can make me actually cry - maybe a misty eye or two  -but this book was an emotional roller coaster for me. I would be smiling like an idiot at Mia and Michael's love - and then I would be sobbing uncontrollably and hardly able to read. It continued pretty much in this same way throughout the entire book. The way that the author wrote the novel was simply enchanting and definitely showcases her immense talent. I was immediately sucked into the book alongside Mia and I didn't want the story to end. The pace was fast but not rushed and all the various threads of the story were intertwined seamlessly throughout the book, which all ended up coming together to create a magnificent story. Suffice it to say that this sequel is just as thrilling and mesmerizing as the first was. I can't wait to see where the story is going to go from here - and how the author is going to end the series. I have a very strong feeling that the next book will be even more emotionally charged with lots of action - and tons of smiles and tears on my part. I very highly recommend this book (series) for fans of YA fantasy/paranormal and those who enjoy an amazing love story.
