Description:

Sky Lopez thought she had it all—the perfect job, the perfect relationship, the perfect life…until she discovers her not-so-perfect boyfriend has been cheating on her. So when her uncle asks her to help plan his Hamptons wedding, Sky jumps at the chance, leaving all of her “perfect” future plans in the rearview mirror.

The wedding doesn’t prove as good a distraction as she’d hoped, because when her relatives and friends find out she’s single, they put Sky in their match-making sights. Never mind that she’s only twenty four. Never mind that she doesn’t want to settle for anyone other than Mr. Right. Seemingly everyone in Sky’s life wants her to get married and have babies. Like, yesterday.

So when Hayden—a sweet, sexy roofer—plummets through the ceiling and practically falls into her lap, she can’t help but think that maybe nice guys do just fall from the sky.

Soon Sky finds herself juggling crumbling wedding plans, the cheating ex who’s trying to win her back, the cute plastic surgeon her family thinks is perfect for her, and the hot roofer she can’t seem to get off her mind.

As the wedding date draws closer, Sky will need to choose one—or none—to keep herself from falling off the ledge, and maybe into love.

Love on the Ledge is the sweet and sexy second book in a New Adult contemporary romance series. It follows our heroine - Sky - as she tries to bring together the broken pieces of her life. It all starts when Sky catches her boyfriend cheating on her. She's completely heartbroken, so when her uncle asks her to help plan his wedding in the Hamptons - she jumps at the chance to get a fresh start on life. The wedding doesn't exactly turn out to be the distraction she was looking for and once her relatives catch wind that she's single - they all start trying to play matchmaker for her. Sky thought things were tough back in her old life - but her new one in the Hamptons is turning out to be just as difficult. She's trying to help with her uncle's wedding while politely turning down blind date requests and an ex-boyfriend that's begging her to get back together. Add in the hot roofer that literally crashes through her ceiling - and Sky's life is getting overwhelming. It seems that she needs to make a choice between the three guys in her life - the cheating ex, the plastic surgeon everyone wants her to get together with, and Hayden - the cute and sweet roofer that she can't seem to stop thinking about - or none of them, if she wants to stay sane and maybe even fall in love.

This was a fantastic second installment in the series! Sometimes the first book in a series is wonderful and then when you read the next novel, it doesn't even come close to the first. Happily, this isn't the case with this series at all. I loved Sky as the main character for the story. She's very realistic, which allowed me to identify with her right from the start. She has great qualities for a strong female lead - smart, down to earth, a hard worker, and kind. The author makes sure that we see her flaws and weaknesses as well, which helps to fully round out her character. Sky goes through a lot in the book - her entire life is basically shattered into pieces, she takes on the job of helping plan her uncle's wedding in the Hamptons, and then she's bombarded with guys who all think they're the one for her. I liked watching Sky's character grow throughout the novel as she overcomes the obstacles in her life and when she has to make important decisions. I obviously loved the romance in the book too. It's pretty obvious that Hayden is the guy she's supposed to be with, but I found myself rooting for him anyways. I loved watching Sky and Hayden get to know each other and having their relationship grow into something beautiful. I can be a total sucker when it comes to sweet guys and a romance involving them - so, needless to say, I was swooning over Hayden from basically the minute we meet him.

Although the plot wasn't exactly original, the story really came to life for me because of the characters and the writing. The characters were all well rounded with distinct personalities - especially Sky. By the end of the book I felt like I knew her personally and had experienced everything that happened throughout the story right along with her. The author's writing style was fantastic. Sky's world is brought to life with lots of details and vivid descriptions, which sucked me into the story from the first page and didn't let go until after I finished the final words. The big catch for me is the author's use of first person point of view. If you've read any of my other reviews, you'll know that this is a biggie for me. It's my personal favorite and I think it gives so much more perspective into the story. By using the first person POV with Sky as the narrator, we're able to really get to know her. We're privy to her private thoughts, doubts, fears, regrets, hopes, dreams - everything. Getting to know the main character on such a deeply personal level allows the reader to really bond with them in a way no other point of view is able to. After reading a book that's done in first person, like this one, I always feel like I truly know the main character - as if I was with her during everything that happened in the story or if she was a very close friend who was telling me the story of what happened. The tone is conversational which makes the pace just right - not too fast or overly slow - and the flow feels natural and unforced. The author has obvious talent that's easily showcased in this book with her writing style along with the story line. I'm definitely going to be reading more of her works. I highly recommend this book to fans of the genre along with readers looking for a realistic romance. It's the perfect summer read!
