Chloe was three years old when she became Chloe Holden, but her adoption didn’t scar her, and she’s had a great life. Now, fourteen years later, her loving parents’ marriage has fallen apart and her mom has moved them to Joyful, Texas. Starting twelfth grade as the new kid at school, everything Chloe loved about her life is gone. And feelings of déjà vu from her early childhood start haunting her.

When Chloe meets Cash Colton she feels drawn to him, as though they're kindred spirits. Until Cash tells her the real reason he sought her out: Chloe looks exactly like the daughter his foster parents lost years ago, and he’s determined to figure out the truth.

As Chloe and Cash delve deeper into her adoption, the more things don’t add up, and the more strange things start happening. Why is Chloe’s adoption a secret that people would kill for?

Reviews:
"Hunter deftly delivers a complicated back-and-forth point of view between Chloe and Cash, building suspense along with a steamy sense of attraction between the two teens." -- Kirkus

In Another Life was an exciting and intriguing young adult thriller that had me devouring pages until the very end. This is one of my favorite genres, so I was hooked as soon as I read the description, but wasn't quite sure what to expect from the book. Luckily, it was everything I could have hoped for and more. The story is a great mystery with lots of twists and turns throughout and when I started getting a theory together, something would change and I'd be stuck back at square one. Which is a fantastic thing since most mysteries don't really have that going on anymore (at least for me).

The biggest thing for me was the writing. The story is told from alternating points of view - from both Chloe and Cash. Chloe's part is told from the first person, which is always my favorite, while Cash's is told from the third person. I think it was a perfect choice for the story and really allowed the reader to get involved in the plot and get to know each of the main characters throughout the book. I really enjoyed getting to know both Chloe and Cash, as individuals and as their relationship took shape over the course of the novel. They were both realistic and easy to connect with, so I found it really easy to get lost inside their story. I was kind of expecting another tired YA mystery/thriller with this one, but I was definitely pleasantly surprised at what it turned out to be. I definitely recommend it to fans of YA mysteries, thrillers, contemporary, and even romance.
