So there we were, about half the kids in town staring down at a freaky fiery message blazing in the middle of a huge cornfield. A message which—oh, by the way—had quite possibly probably been left by, I kid you not, a haunted piñata monster. It definitely wasn’t the kind of thing you saw every day. In fact, it was exactly the kind of thing you hope to never see. Unless, of course, you happen to have some weird obsession with fire or the paranormal, but that’s a whole other conversation. That’s not me, in case you’re wondering. That’s Panicky Pete. I don’t really know the kid, but he goes to my school and supposedly flips his lid over just about anything.
