This book lived up to all the expectations and hopes that I held for it - and then surpassed them all. I continue to be blown away by the phenomenal writing of Rhiannon Frater. She is an incredibly talented writer and it shows in every single page of her novels. Amaliya continues her journey to find a way to stop the war that's raging around her and save the world. She's an awesome main character for this trilogy. She's strong, smart, brave, and all around badass. I mean, she's a vampire necromancer! How much cooler can a girl get? The plot continued from where the second book left off and didn't miss a beat. The novel continued to be totally unique and original to the genre, without having any of the usual cliches or stereotypes that vampire or paranormal fiction has. The narrative has a great mix of several genres including action, horror, adventure, suspense, and tons of paranormal elements. All of these easily combined to create a book in a trilogy that surpasses genre labels and is simply in a class of its own. The characters were all very well written with distinct personalities, complete with individual strengths and weaknesses. It was surprisingly easy to identify with the characters - especially Amaliya - and I was definitely rooting for her from the beginning. The writing was impeccable with a really fast pace and vivid details and descriptions that had me feeling like I was right in the heart of the book with the characters. I honestly can't recommend this author, her novels, or this trilogy enough. If you haven't read this trilogy - DO IT NOW. You will not be disappointed. Although I am sad that the trilogy is over, I will definitely be eagerly awaiting the author's next book and reading up on all her previous works.
