If I Were Human is a cute book where a dog named Brina and her friends talk about what they would each do if they were human. There's a range of animals - multiple dogs and a squirrel. They each go through what things they would do in a normal day if they were human. Activities include going to school, working in an office, being a cook, and being famous. At the end of the book though, the main character decides that if they were human - they would wish they were a dog. It's a short story but has lots of fun details about the various activities and tasks each animal would do. The illustrations were brightly colored and also very adorable. They followed the story and showcased each animal going about their "human" day - although they were still themselves. For example, one dog was wearing a tie to go to work, the squirrel wore an apron to cook soup, and another dog wore a backpack and sat in a classroom. The illustrations took up about half a page each, on every page, and were a fun inclusion to help set the story for the kids. I'd definitely recommend this book for children who still enjoy being read to as well as those who are learning to read on their own and practicing.
