Six Thousand Doughnuts is a contemporary middle grade novel that is lighthearted and fun. I really enjoyed Abe, the main character, and getting to know him throughout the story. One thing I really liked was that the author chose to write the novel in the first person point of view. We get to peek inside Abe's head and see his inner thoughts, hopes, fears, and everything in between. It was a little weird for me to be inside the mind of a fifth grade boy, but it kept the story interesting and fun. Another thing I really enjoyed were the illustrations throughout the book. They were cute pencil-like sketches and I thought they went along perfectly with the story. The pictures really helped to bring the book to life for me and I really liked them. I definitely recommend this book for fans of MG fiction, children's fiction, and contemporary fiction. For more information visit thomastosi.com.
